Interval: Westside to Lambert Bridge Winery –...
The weather is turning to winter, it was only 52 when we started but was 72 when we finished. This makes it so hard to dress, I had lots of layers, but you still can not peal them off fast enough. Plus we have rain coming on Friday (boy do we need it!). Good ride, really pushed myself and was just off a PB. Total elevation climbed was 1312 feet. Great to get out before the weather turns nasty.
Hills: Harrison Grade – 17.84 miles/01:16 riding...
Needed to keep the ride to a short time as I have so much client work to do and only my lunch hour to ride. Did the climb up Harrison Grade and then just returned to the office. Total elevation climbed was 1,374 feet. The weather is getting cold and we are looking at hard rains this weekend. We need the rain but bummer no riding this weekend.
Hills: Graton Grade Freestone Coleman Valley –...
The first annual Snooth road bike rally! Well maybe not but Jo Ann and I rode with the CEO of Snooth following the the Wine Bloggers Conference this past weekend. It was a great way to burn off a few of the calories from all of the wine tasting! The ride started out in Graton where the weather was warm and clear. We headed up Graton grade and turn up the steep hill on Facendini over to Jonive and...
Recovery Ride to Starbucks in Sebastopol – 21.69...
Standard recovery ride before heading over to the conference. Slow easy pace on a beautiful day in Sonoma. Total elevation climbed was only 1,255 feet.
Hills: Harrison Grade and Freestone – 28.21...
Another great day to be out riding. The ride is one of my standard training routes, that starts with a hill time trial up Harrison Grade, which I completed 4 secs short of a PB for the time trial. We then continued on Facendini over to Bodega Highway and down to Freestone. After refueling at the great Freestone Bakery we rode up to Occidental and then back via Harrison Grade which is much easier...
Interval: Westside to Lambert Bridge – 32.72...
First day back in the saddle after being on the road this week. Good ride on the rolling hills in Dry Creek. Rode my time trial route for 12.75 miles of this ride and had a good time but 20 seconds off my PB. Total elevation climbed was 1,165 feet.
Sea Ranch to Annapolis to Skaggs Creek to Lake...
This is our return trip from our ride to Gualala. It was extremely cold and foggy when we got up and decided that it was not safe to ride down Coast Highway in these conditions. So we got a ride down to The Sea Ranch so we could miss the entire 10 miles riding down Coast Highway in the fog and darkness as the road has no shoulder and the drivers go very fast along this strip. From The Sea Ranch...
Harrison Grade Boho Kings Ridge Annapolis to...
On Friday we headed up to Gualala to visit our friends Sut and Cindy. The weather was cool when we left but was going to be warm for the ride. We headed out loaded up with gear for the weekend so we were also loaded up with a lot more weight than normal. We headed over to Harrison Valley and did the normal climb of Harrison Valley and rode down to Occidental. From there we headed down Bohemian...
Recovery: Westside to Lambert Bridge – 32.37...
I really must have left it out there yesterday as today’s ride was not good. I was tired and very sore from yesterday’s time trial and it shows. I was an idiot yesterday and did not stretch after the strong effort and have been dragging all day. Total elevation climbed was 1,238 feet and the pace was slow.
Interval: Westside to Lambert Bridge Winery –...
Beautiful day in West Sonoma county. Did my routine of drop sets on the time trial portion out to Lambert Bridge Winery and I beat my personal best by 20 seconds. This route is relatively rolling hills with only 1222 feet of elevation climbs, but it a good route that rolls through the various vineyards of Dry Creek. A great day to get out on the road after work.
Recovery Ride to Starbucks in Sebastopol – 22.64...
Standard recovery ride but were my legs tired. Rode into the local bike shop to have a little work done on my bike and then over to Starbucks for an afternoon coffee. Good to get out on the bike but I was sore from yesterday.
Hills: Freestone Joy Bay Hill Coleman Valley down...
Great ride on a great fall day. Total elevation climbed of 5825 feet. The ride started out on a cold fall morning with the temperatures around 52. We headed out Harrison Grade and ran our time trial on that course. My time was good but about 35 secs off my PB. We then headed over to Freestone to the Freestone Bakery for some refueling. Off again up to Occidental where we headed up the Coleman...
Hills: Harrison Grade – 21.16 miles / 01:29 riding...
A disappointing day, we were suppose to head out on a group ride to celebrate the first year anniversary for our local bike shop West County Revolution, but Jo Ann woke up sick. It was also cold and very windy again but we had to call off the 60 mile ride so she could recuperate. So around mid day I headed out on a hill ride that I use as a time trial ride. Well my time was not bad but about a...
Endurance: Lake Sonoma Chalk Hill Loop – 65.33...
You can tell that summer is over and we are heading into winter. Today we headed out for a long ride and rode head first into very strong winds which significantly reduced our pace. The weather service was estimating the winds at 30 to 40 mph and it seemed that the gusts were always heading into our face. It made a much harder ride and my average heart rate was 127 for the entire route which is...
Interval: Westside to Lambert Bridge – 32.44 miles...
This was an interval training day with total elevation climbed of 1,283 feet. It was a good ride but not a personal best. The weather was warm and there are still lots of people visiting the wineries, so you have to keep your eyes open for the drivers who have sampled too much. Keywords: intervals, road, training
Recovery Ride to Windsor – 17.65 miles / 01:08...
Easy recover ride to Starbucks for a coffee. Rolling hills with only 720 feet of elevation change, but it was nice to just spin for an hour. A couple of long rides planned this weekend with a 100 miles on Friday 65 on Saturday and 90 on Sunday so time to rest up. Keywords: cycle, easy, recovery, road
Endurance: Lake Sonoma Chalk Hill Loop – 65.33...
A great ride on a beautiful day in West County. Total elevation was only 2456 feet, but we put on some good distance at a good pace. It was nice especially for the first hour as it seemed that all that was out on the road were other bikers, we did not see many cars until after 11a. This is a very nice ride heading through the Dry Creek valley then over to Jimtown and down Chalk Hill. A nice...
Westside to Sebastopol to Freestone – 48.84 miles...
Today was suppose to be a century up in Clearlake but it rained last night and we decided not to go. That was probably a mistake as the weather today turned out to be very nice, albeit a bit cool. However we decided to try to do a century locally but about 15 miles out into the ride it became clear that my derailleur cable needed to be replaced. So I had to limp into the bike shop so I could get...
Hills: Harrison Grade – 20.73 mi / 01:29 riding...
Total elevation climb of 1604 feet. This ride was not planned as we were suppose to head out to the Konocti Challenge Century that is scheduled for tomorrow, but it looks like it is going to be a downpour with up to three inches of rain. So we went out today and decided that if it does not rain hard tonight that I would drive up there tomorrow and try to make the ride. However as I write this...
Hills: Harrison Grade – 17.84 miles / 01:09 riding...
Quick run over Harrison Grade, climbed 1,235 feet and kept a nice pace, but not great. Who knows if the storm is still coming in but based on the weather it does not look like we will be riding the century this weekend. Bummer. Keywords: hill, road
